Journals, 1865-1915, which cover his explorations in the Torres Strait and New Guinea, 1872-1876, his employment at Sydney Observatory, 1878-1883, and his aeronautical investigations and inventions. Thejournals contain: daily manuscript entries including diagrams and notes about trials conducted; letters received; copies of letters sent; press cuttings; photographs; and copies of his papers read before the Royal Society of New South Wales.
